Carrying through the principles of wabi-sabi, OTAKU embraces the idea of ‘wisdom in natural beauty’; exposing the imperfection in raw materials such as wood, concrete and stone. Inspired by Tadao Ando architecture, flawed elements are left untouched, with emphasis on the process of forms taking shape.

Driven by its sea-view context and irregular shape, the space approach is unbounded by convention. Fluid forms feature throughout, alluding to the essence of the waterfront. Reflective materials and intentional lighting allow for playful interactions of light and shadow; creating an emphasis on depth and ever-changing patterns – all the while retaining the simplistic, novel nature of Otaku.
