KONCRETE is a result of a brief set out to design a raw, upscale, multi-concept space serving quality coffee amongst a creative display of select, exclusive brands – a hidden stand alone gem that can be adapted to different functions, the first of its kind in the UAE.

A statement in itself, the structure in which KONCRETE space sits sets the tone for what is to come. As a stand-alone concrete structure with dramatic sleek black frames, it is naturally statuesque; and we sought to extend that very elegance into its interior approach through a combination of exposed finishes contrasted with tasteful, contemporary elements of design.

Walls and floor finishes are kept unfinished; with the raw aesthetic of concrete showcasing the appeal in the nature of the material, with its markings and uneven texture. In doing so, we allow for a somewhat brutalist blank canvas, where stylistic interpretations of quality, minimal design interventions can be put to play. Here is where we imagined, designed and created pieces where form meets function in a novel, unconventional way. 

The existing long, slit windows and atrium encapsulate light and cast shadows beautifully, resulting in a seamless indoor / outdoor connectivity of spaces, and the strategic use of interior light is representative of this. Integrated light details incorporate reflective finishes, allowing for a creative play of reflections and the creation of dramatic shadows with subtle interactions between object and light. 

A humble work of art, KONCRETE is a one-of-a-kind concept store that is both delicate and monumental in its presence. With a strong sense of style and aesthetic, it is no doubt one to remember.
